The Arctic Fury deeply discounted in December!

Yes, I do tend to focus on my new releases around here, but of course, all my other books are also out there in the world! I’m particularly tickled that right around this time of year, when chilly weather descends, The Arctic Fury sees a big spike in readership. (In particular, it looks great against the backdrop of newly fallen snow on Instagram!)

So this is particularly well-timed news: The Arctic Fury is deeply discounted in e-book form during the month of December, and as of this writing, you can pick it up for less than $3 on several fave e-book platforms.

while you're waiting for more Yellowjackets...

Obviously I’m not the only one who fell head-over-heels for Showtime’s “Yellowjackets,” a moody, creepy-tense dual-timeline thriller about a girls’ soccer team marooned in the wilderness and driven to extremes to survive. Now that the first season is over, what can fans do to fill the vacuum? Well, Paste Magazine has some great suggestions of books to read while you wait, and you can imagine my delight to see THE ARCTIC FURY on the list! And Lacy Baugher Milas’s summary is on point:

A dual timeline thriller about 13 women who are tragically stranded in a remote wilderness and the fallout that ensues when not all of them return? Is this Yellowjackets: The Novel? No, it’s Greer Macallister’s The Arctic Fury, a thrilling piece of historical fiction that follows a group of extraordinary women sent in search of the lost Franklin Expedition.

Check out the whole list, including Alma Katsu’s Donner Party-inspired The Hunger and Grady Hendrix’s horror remix The Final Girl Support Group, here at this link.

Bent Biblios Podcast features THE ARCTIC FURY!

Hello! I know I’ve been nattering pretty nonstop about my new book coming out in a few weeks (SCORPICA SCORPICA SCORPICA) but it’s only been a year since THE ARCTIC FURY first came out, and especially now that it’s winter again, I’ve been doing more book clubs and interviews about it! The latest is a fabulous podcast called The Bent Biblios, and I have to say, Ashley and Tegan asked me so many insightful, in-depth questions that I was blown away.

Hope you have as much fun listening to the podcast as we did recording it!

The podcast is likely available wherever you like to get your podcasts, but here are direct links to a couple of the most likely locations. Enjoy!

THE ARCTIC FURY in great company at Greatist!

How fun is this!? THE ARCTIC FURY made a list of 15 Best Historical Fiction Books at Greatist.com, in amazing company with the latest from Chris Bohjalian, Pam Jenoff, Michelle Gable, Kristin Harmel and more!

(Honestly, fully half of the authors on this list are friends of mine, and I’m genuinely delighted for every one of us! I am so lucky to run in these circles.)

I particularly love that the intro points out that “historical fiction” just means these novels are set in the past, though “many of them are inspired by real people and events, use familiar settings as backdrops, or retell old stories from new perspectives.“ Nicely put.

THE ARCTIC FURY in great company at CrimeReads!

Sorry it’s been so quiet around here! Between last week’s very busy and very enjoyable virtual Historical Novel Society conference and an upcoming book deadline breathing down my neck for next year’s epic fantasy novel (about which more soon!), not much time for blogging. But I’ve got a couple fun links to share, so here’s the first!

Loved seeing THE ARCTIC FURY included in a roundup of “immersive” historical novels at CrimeReads. “The Arctic setting really crystalizes this story.“ Check out Martha Hall Kelly’s great list of recommendations here.
