happy birthday, Shakespeare!

Just a quick note on a Sunday to say this: it happens to be Shakespeare's birthday, and I contributed a little something to this feature on Books That Shook Us about fierce heroines from Shakespeare and what we love about them. I am a Beatrice (Much Ado) fan from way back, so of course I chose her. She's witty and flawed and she loves with a grown-up love... well, read it and you'll see.

Check out all seven featured heroines here.

one whirlwind month of GIRL!

Where did the time go? It's already April 21, which means that GIRL IN DISGUISE has been out in the world for exactly a month. It's been a whirlwind, to be sure, and I can't possibly sum it all up in its entirety here. But I can give you a few highlights, and thank readers profusely -- thank you, thank you, thank you! -- for giving Kate Warne's story such a warm welcome.

A few link-y highlights:

And then this, always this: while in Chicago, I spent some time at Graceland Cemetery, paying my respects to Kate, who is buried in the Pinkerton family plot. The big obelisk here is Allan Pinkerton's, and off to the far right you see three tall tombstones: a generic "employees of Pinkerton's National Detective Agency" stone, one for Timothy Webster (an obvious inspiration for Tim Bellamy in GIRL) and one for Kate.

Her name is misspelled on her stone as Kate Warn. I couldn't help correcting it, if only temporarily.

back home again (but also everywhere)

Ahhhh, the comforts of home. (But ohhhh, the laundry.) After another whirlwind week on the road -- flying and driving and talking and signing in five states this time! -- I'm back safe at home and hunkering down again. For at least a little while, my interactions with readers will all be virtual. Which I enjoy almost as much as the in-person ones, so don't be a stranger! You can find me on Instagram, Twitter and Litsy as @theladygreer and on Facebook under Greer Macallister.

And here's one of my favorite book tour photos: beautiful heaps of signed copies of GIRL IN DISGUISE waiting for readers to come and get 'em.

win my latest UK and US releases on Instagram

I've been enjoying Instagram more and more lately. This week I even Instagrammed a picture of a quinoa bowl. Who have I become?? In any case, if you're not following me there at @theladygreer, now's a great time to start -- I'm running a giveaway for one copy of the new UK release of THE MAGICIAN'S LIE and one of GIRL IN DISGUISE. Follow me on Instagram and comment on the contest post to enter! And you can get an extra entry by tagging a friend.

Have at it! By midnight on Sunday, April 16.

see you in St. Louis (and points north)

I'm on the road again! This week it's my Midwest barnstorming leg of the GIRL IN DISGUISE tour, with stops in St. Louis/St. Charles MO (tonight!), followed by Decorah, Iowa; Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Chicago, Illinois. Thrilled to be back on home ground, and excited to have the chance to pay my respects to Kate Warne, who is buried in the Pinkerton family plot in Chicago. It's going to be a heck of a week, and I hope to see you there! Details on my Events page, as always.

(Won't make it to Michigan this time, but wearing my Michigan pin just because!)

GIRL IN DISGUISE is a Midwest Connections Pick!

It's no secret that I love independent booksellers everywhere, but having been raised in small-town Iowa, the Midwest is dear to my heart. And I'm incredibly pleased to see that GIRL IN DISGUISE has been honored by the Midwest Independent Booksellers Association (MIBA) as a Midwest Connections Pick for April!

THE MAGICIAN'S LIE was similarly honored and it made a big difference in getting that book in front of Midwestern readers. Hoping we see the same results with this one.

Thanks, MIBA!

You can see all four April picks on the MIBA site.

today's Arden Day in the UK!

I know I've been talking a lot about GIRL IN DISGUISE lately, since it's my new US release, but today I want to bring some attention to THE MAGICIAN'S LIE! Why? Because Legend Press is launching an absolutely gorgeous hardcover edition of TML today in the UK. I'm so excited that UK readers will finally have Arden's story on their shelves. I would absolutely love to see a photo of someone reading it on the Tube, but in the meantime, I feel welcomed to Britain by a reviewer who referred to an unpleasant character in the book as "a right piece of work."

Enjoy, UK readers!
